States
NoChannel Commerce PIM provides different states for managing your product information, including attributes, attribute groups, templates, products, variants, and swatches. These states – Enabled, Disabled, Normal, View Only, Hidden, and Archived -provide a structured framework for organizing and controlling product data within the system.
This is the active state. Entities marked as "Enabled" are readily available for use within the PIM system. You can view them, edit them, and include them in your product information.
For example, an attribute named "Color" is enabled, allowing you to specify product colors and display them in product listings and descriptions.
NOTE: For Products & Variants, Swatches, and Brands, there is no Enabled state. Instead, they progress through a Normal stage.
This state indicates temporary inactive. Entities marked as "Disabled" are essentially hidden from view and cannot be used in your product data. This is useful for temporarily removing items while keeping them readily accessible for future use.
For example, a product variant named "Large Size" might be disabled due to a limited-time stock shortage. Disabling it prevents its inclusion in product data until inventory levels are replenished, but you can easily re-enable it later.
This state signifies the entity is no longer actively used. Archived entities are essentially removed from active use but retained for historical reference purposes. You cannot edit or use archived entities in your current product data.
For example, a product named "Model ABC" might be archived after being discontinued from your offerings. Archiving preserves its data for historical reference (e.g., sales figures), but it's no longer included in current product listings or updates.
IMPORTANT: Disabling or archiving an attribute used by a template with associated products will generate an auto-generated "DRAFT" of the template. This automatically removes the disabled attribute, as disabled attributes cannot be utilized in PIM. Upon committing the template, the "syncProductType" flag is set to false, indicating that the new version is not synchronized with existing products. However, products with assigned version numbers remain unaffected. This feature ensures smooth management of your product data while maintaining accuracy and consistency throughout your catalog.
This state is default and only available for products and variants, Swatches, and Brands within the PIM system. Think of it as the ready-for-sale stage. Products in this state have all the necessary details filled in, such as names, descriptions, pricing, sizes, colors, and images. They are visible to you for editing and management and can be published on your sales channels for consumers to view and purchase.
For example, a product named "TechMaster 5000" laptop is in this state. All its information is complete, and it's ready to be showcased and sold on your website.
This state is ideal for products you're planning to launch soon. Think of it as a "sneak peek" for consumers. Consumers can see details like descriptions and images to build excitement, but they cannot purchase the product yet. This allows you to manage upcoming releases while generating anticipation.
For example, a product named "Blossom Bloom" sneakers from your Spring Collection is in this state. Consumers can see them at the storefront but cannot buy them yet, as pricing and availability details are being finalized.
This state is for products that are no longer actively sold but might be useful for reference in the future. Think of it as a "storage room" for past products. These products are hidden from consumer's view on your sales channels, but their information remains stored within the PIM system. This allows you to revisit them later if needed, such as bringing back a popular out-of-season item.
For example, a product named "Sunshine Splash" swimwear collection is now hidden. It's not visible to consumers anymore as it's out of season, but the product information is still accessible within PIM for future reference or potential relaunch.
View Only, and Hidden states are exclusive to products & variants within the PIM system.
By understanding these product states, you can effectively organize your product information in NoChannel Commerce PIM, ensuring your consumers see only what's currently available while keeping past and upcoming products readily accessible for management.
