Bulk Import States
Bulk uploads follow a structured lifecycle to ensure transparency, reliability, and consistent data handling across attributes, attribute groups, product templates, products, and variants.
Each upload is tracked using a unique Feed ID, allowing users to monitor progress across all stages.
Upload & Preparation States
SCANNING
The system scans the uploaded file to:
- Validate file structure
- Detect sheets and headers
- Check for missing or invalid formats
No data is processed at this stage.
SCANNED
The file structure has been successfully read and validated. The system prepares the file for mapping and validation.
MAPPING REQUIRED
User action is required to map uploaded columns to system fields. This ensures correct data alignment before processing begins.
READY
All required mappings are completed. The feed is ready to begin processing.
Pre-Processing & Validation States
PRE PROCESSING
The system performs initial validations and transformations, including:
- Mandatory field checks
- Data type validation
- Site ID verification
- Structure validation for complex attributes
Invalid rows are flagged early to prevent corrupt data from entering the system.
Processing States
UPLOADED
The file has been successfully uploaded and queued for processing.
(This state confirms successful file submission before active processing begins.)
IMPORTING
The system processes each row in the feed and applies business rules.
During this stage:
- Valid rows continue processing
- Invalid rows are recorded in structured error reports
Progress updates appear in real time for long-running feeds.
PARTIAL SUCCESS
Some rows have been successfully processed while others failed validation or processing.
Users can:
- Download detailed error reports
- Fix failed rows
- Re-import only the corrected data
This ensures large uploads are not blocked by a few invalid entries.
PROCESSED
All rows in the feed have completed processing.
This state may include:
- Full success (all rows valid)
- Partial success (some rows failed)
Post-Processing & Commit States
POST PROCESSING
Final consistency checks are performed before committing data, including:
- Referential integrity validation
- Version alignment for templates
- Final error verification
This ensures data stability across related entities.
READY
The processed data is prepared for final commit.
At this stage, users can review results before publishing.
COMMIT IN PROGRESS
The system is actively committing processed records into the live environment. Progress indicators show completion status for large feeds.
COMMITTED
The feed has been successfully committed. All valid rows are now live in the system. Any failed rows remain documented in error reports.
Error & Reporting States
ERROR
The system generates structured error reports containing:
- Feed ID
- Sheet name
- Row number
- Entity ID (where applicable)
- Error category and message
This allows precise troubleshooting and correction.
Feed Tracking & Visibility
Each bulk upload generates a Feed ID which can be used to:
- Track status across pre-processing, processing, and commit stages
- View partial success details
- Monitor progress in real time
- Retrieve detailed error reports
Status updates occur dynamically without requiring page reloads.
